摘要:Appraisal theory is developed based on Halliday’s interpersonal system theory, and it has been applied to the discourse analysis of different genres of texts, like commercial, historical, and autobiographical discourses. However, the use of appraisal theory in the analysis of political speech is rare. In this paper, appraisal theory is employed to analyze Ivanka Trump’s speech with a quantitative analysis, aiming to reveal that how interpersonal meanings can be conveyed through language in political speech.
