Energy Efficient Modelling of a Network

摘要:Most of the networks are generallyless energy efficient and most of the time re-sources are underutilized. Even resources ofbusy networks are also underutilized and thusnetworks show energy inefficient managementsystem. This paper focuses on how to obtainminimum resources for the current situation ofthe network to maintain connectivity, powersaving and quality of service. Four differentmodels are proposed in this perspective withdifferent purposes and functions. These mod-els determine the minimum resources undercertain constrains. Two types of servicesnamely, "minimum bandwidth" and "trivialfile transfer" are considered. For "minimumbandwidth" service, minimum edge, mini-mum delay and minimum change models areproposed. Here data rate switch and enable/disable of edges are placed in these modelsfor power saving strategy. Another model,multi flow is proposed for "trivial file transfer"service. It is proposed for transferring filesthrough multiple flows in multiple paths fromsource to destination. All models except multiflow model are mixed integer programmingoptimization problem.
