An Iterative Detection/Decoding Algorithm of Correlated Sources for the LDPC-Based Relay Systems

摘要:An iterative detection/decodingalgorithm of correlated sources for the LD-PC-based relay systems is presented. Thesignal from the source-destination (S-D) linkis formulated as a highly correlated counter-part from the relay-destination (R-D) link.A special XOR vector is defined using thecorrelated hard decision information blocksfrom two decoders and the extrinsic infor-mation exchanged between the two decodersis derived by the log-likelihood ratio (LLR)associated with the XOR vector. Such thedecoding scheme is different from the tradi-tional turbo-like detection/decoding algorithm,where the extrinsic information is computedby the side information and the soft decoderoutputs. Simulations show that the presentedalgorithm has a slightly better performancethan the traditional turbo-like algorithm (Tak-ing the (255,175) EG-LDPC code as an ex-ample, it achieves about 0.1dB performancegains around BLER=10-4). Furthermore, thepresented algorithm requires fewer comput-ing operations per iteration and has fasterconvergence rate. For example, the averageiteration of the presented algorithm is 33 atSNR=I.SdB, which is about twice faster thanthat of the turbo-like algorithm, when decod-ing the (961,721) QC-LDPC code. Therefore,the presented decoding algorithm of correlatedsources provides an alternative decoding solu-tion for the LDPC-based relay systems.
