摘要：In the light of their building materials and techniques and structural features, the Liao period tombs known so far can be divided into the house-shaped, wooden-chamber-shaped, earthen-cave and earthen-pit categories. Of them the most important is the first class, which falls into three types: round or oval tombs, rectangular or square ones, and polygonal ones, and each of these can be further classified into five sub-types. Based on the classification and sequential arrangement of their typical objects and the combination of their grave goods, the Liao tombs can be divided into four periods, each having its own features in tomb shape, object combination and wall decoration.
