摘要：Integrating fields within and beyond linguistics,the CAS approach offers comprehensive insights that help define what language is,explain why language changes and reveal how language is acquired.Linguistic researches that appear to be unrelated can gain access to common grounds if they view language as a complex adaptive system which is historical,social and cognitive at the same time.This paper proposes that although CAS diverges from Generative Grammar,the values of Generative Grammar should not be overlooked,and the two models should seek to complement one another in order to see the whole picture of language.
